Time Warner Cable customers can now watch Starz and Encore programming anytime and virtually anywhere with the launch of the STARZ Play and ENCORE Play apps for iOS and Android. TWC made the official announcement today for support of the apps which stream content to Apple iPhones and iPads, as well as Android devices including Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD, NOOK HD, NOOK HD+, and the Google Nexus 4, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10. The networks are also available to watch on PCs and Macs through starzplay.com and encoreplay.com. Time Warner Cable updates TWC TV app for Android

Time Warner Cable has updated the TWC TV app for Android to allow On Demand access and viewing away from home. The improved app offers over 4,000 On Demand titles in-home, as well as out-of-home access to live TV and over 1,100 On Demand titles. When viewing away from home, however, you’ll need a Wi-Fi connection. The app also added improvements to the TV mini guide such as filtering or sorting by genre, title, network, and recently watched channels. If you’re using an older Android device with version 2.2, the updated app will now let you watch live TV and On Demand content. Time Warner says TWC TV currently supports video playback on 98% of Android devices running version 2.2 or higher. Read More

Time Warner Cable customers in the New York City area will no longer be able to receive analog channels from the Basic TV package, as the provider moves to switch to an all-digital platform. Starting in Mount Vernon, Staten Island, and Bergen County, NJ, customers will need a digital-to-analog converter to see the channels once the conversion is completed. This means you’ll no longer be able to plug your coaxial cable directly into your TV or VCR, a method long embraced by many New Yorkers. The good news is Time Warner will ship an HD-compatible Cisco DTA (Digital Transport Adapter) to customers for free. And, you won’t be charged for the adapter until 2015, at which point subscribers be charged .99 per month per adapter. Read More

Starting earlier today Time Warner Cable welcomed subscribers to access entertainment, news, and sports programming via Apple iOS mobile devices away from home. Subscribers will need a Wi-Fi connection to watch the content, which includes Live TV On The Go and over 1,100 titles from TWC’s On Demand library.
