It’s yet another great week for Blu-ray releases, and just in time for the holidays. If you can take your mind of Star Wars for a minute let’s highlight some must-have titles this week.
Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015) is now available on Blu-ray in a 2-Disc edition from Paramount that includes Blu-ray, DVD, and a Digital HD copy redeemable with iTunes, UltraViolet, or Google Play. And, although the film was released to Digital HD about a month ago there are several packaged versions to choose from including exclusive editions from Best Buy, Target and Walmart. The BD in all editions is formatted in 2.39:1 aspect ratio with soundtracks available in English Dolby Atmos and English Dolby TrueHD 7.1. Price: $17.99 – $24.99.
Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015) is the follow up to Maze Runner (2014) and like ‘Rogue Nation’ was also released early to Digital HD. The film is available in a 2-disc combo edition from 20th Century Fox that includes Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD copy with iTunes, UltraViolet, and Google Play. The BD, formatted in 2.40:1 aspect ratio, features a soundtrack in English DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1. Price: $17.99
And, Ted 2 is now available on Blu-ray Disc and features an extended ‘Unrated’ version with never-before-seen footage labeled “too rude for the cinema.” The 2-disc Blu-ray combo from Universal also includes extra bonus material, a DVD, and Digital HD copy via iTunes or UltraViolet. The BD is formatted in 2.40:1 aspect ratio with a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack. Price: $19.99
