Wimbledon simulcasting to 3D theaters

Sony is broadcasting the 2011 Wimbledon tennis championships to select 3D theaters across the world using the Sony Digital Cinema 4K digital projection and RealD 3D technology. On July 2 and 3, the Women’s and Men’s finals will simulcast at 3D theaters across the United States. Sony says “the in-theater event gives not only tennis fans but all movie-going consumers an unprecedented and immersive out-of-home experience.” Other Sony-produced sports events in 3D include the Masters Golf Tournament, X Games, MLB’s Home Run Derby, NBA All-Star Games, and BCS College Football. To see if there is a theater near you check out the Fathom ticketing webpage for Wimbledon.
