Big news for PS3 gamers and those who thought the 120GB slim wasn’t big enough — Sony has confirmed a 250GB model will ship Nov. 3. The new model will be just that though, bigger in hard-drive space along with a slighter bigger price tag.
The 250GB PS3 will retail for $349.99, giving users more than double the amount of space to save games, movies and music. This is an increase of $50 from the 120GB model which sells for $299.
Keep in mind if you purchased the 120GB already and kicking yourself for not waiting for the 250, the hard-drive is a standard 2.5-inch SATA notebook drive, 5400 or 7200 RPMs, which can easily be swapped out.
Although Playstation 3 follows Xbox 360 and Wii in overall sales, Sony reported a 300% increase in sales the first couple of weeks in Sept. due to the new “slim” model’s release in late August.
The Playstation 3 slim 250GB model is available for pre-order at Amazon.com, just be sure to rollover the 250GB model to get more info on the correct model.
