‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Blu-ray, DVD & UltraViolet release date

September 18, 2012 |

A release date for The Dark Knight Rises on Blu-ray, DVD and UltraViolet Digital Download has been revealed as Dec. 3, 2012. One home media edition contains two Blu-ray Discs, one DVD, and license for UltraViolet copy (via Blu-ray.com). The format of the BDs is listed as 1080p MPEG-4 AVC at the original 2.39:1 widescreen aspect ratio, with a total run time of 165 minutes. For those of you hoping for a director’s cut at this point in time, your hopes were recently extinguished by inside sources who say there are no plans for an extended version. Although, some deleted scenes and director’s commentaries in the Dec. 3 release would be a real treat. We’ll let you know as soon as pre-orders are available. You can also view the theatrical trailer for The Dark Knight Rises below that ends with a slate promising a Blu-ray and Digital Download are coming soon. Prometheus 3D, Blu-ray & DVD release dates

September 14, 2012 | 2

prometheus-blu-ray-dvd-comboWhen we first talked about Prometheus on Blu-ray & DVD it was before the film even hit theaters, when Amazon announced they were giving away free movie tickets to the first 5,000 customers who pre-ordered the film (although find me a customer who got tickets and I’ll give you a lollipop). At that time, a street date for the discs and digital copies hadn’t been announced, so pre-ordering was a bit of a venture. Now we know the release date for Prometheus is Oct. 11, and that the film will be available in three editions including a single-disc DVD, Blu-ray Combo with DVD and Digital Copy, and Blu-ray 3D with Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital Copy. Universal presents 25 films in 100th Anniversary Collection

August 17, 2012 |

This year we’ve been treated to a slate of remastered and re-issued films from the Universal Collection. Now, the 100-year-old studio has announced the Universal 100th Anniversary Collection presenting 25 classic films on Blu-ray and DVD. The earliest of the films included in the collection is All Quiet on the Western Front (1930), a realistic depiction of World War I and the first film to win Academy Awards for both Best Director and Outstanding Production. The newest film in the collection (if you can imagine any other film on the opposite side of the sphere), is the animated film Despicable Me (2010). With so many historically significant films included in this collection such as To Kill a Mockingbird, American Graffiti, and Schindler’s List, you wonder how Despicable Me made the cut. Nevertheless, no-one can argue the significance of the most of the other films on the list. Universal 100th Anniversary Collection also packs a bunch of featurettes, vintage cartoons, vintage short films, 72-page book, and a 15-track music CD featuring film scores. Check out the collection details below. Read More
