It’s another great month for 4k disc releases and although there aren’t nearly as many Ultra HD Blu-ray as conventional Blu-ray discs scheduled, there are some must-have action films and plenty of retailer exclusives to choose from.
The first Tuesday in August brings half-a-dozen 4k Blu-ray releases to shelves including straight-to-video animated feature The Death of Superman from DC Entertainment. Late 80’s action film Predator gets its first 4k disc release, along with a 3-Movie ‘Predator’ Collection from 20th Century Fox. And, Transporter 3, Stagecoach: The Texas Jack Story and Marrowbone are all queued up for UHD BD.
On August 14 ‘The Avengers’ franchise films will all be available on Ultra HD Blu-ray. The latest theatrical release, Avengers: Infinity War, is sure to outsell the previous two films by leaps and bounds. But, given The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron have never been available in 4k it’ll be hard to resist grabbing all three titles and watching in sequence. There are also exclusive editions of the ‘The Avengers’ films from Best Buy, Target and Walmart.
Deadpool 2 arrives on disc for the first time on Aug. 21 in both Blu-ray and 4k Blu-ray editions, and, there are plenty of retailer exclusives to choose from. The two Deadpool films will also be available in a 2-Movie Collection from 20th Century Fox. On the same day, all five Jack Ryan films will be available in a 10-disc 4k Blu-ray collection from Paramount including The Hunt For Red October (1990), Patriot Games (1992), Clear and Present Danger (1994), The Sum of All Fears (2002), and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014)
