New 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases in October

new-4k-blu-ray-oct-2017-960pxThis October will bring at least two dozen new 4k Blu-ray discs to shelves, some titles remastered from previously-released Blu-ray editions and some movies are brand new to home media. Most of the Ultra HD Blu-ray Discs feature High Dynamic Range color depth using either HDR10 or Dolby Vision, with soundtracks in either Dolby Atmos or DTS:X. In the first week of October Sony will release a couple older titles to 4k Blu-ray including Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992) and The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957); Lionsgate’s Kick-Ass (2010) gets the 4k Blu-ray treatment, Disney/Buena Vista release this year’s blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017); and, the final four Harry Potter Films will finally be available in Ultra HD.

Highlights of the rest of the month include Baby Driver (Oct. 10), Apollo 13 (Oct. 17), Spider-Man: Homecoming (Oct. 17), Serenity (Oct. 17), War for the Planet of the Apes (Oct. 24), Terminator 2: Judgement Day (Oct. 31), and The Dark Tower (Oct. 31).

Several of these 4k Blu-ray releases will also be available as retailer exclusives such as Spider-Man Legacy Collection 4k Blu-ray Steelbook (Best Buy), Baby Driver 4k Blu-ray Steelbook (Best Buy), and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales 4k Blu-ray (Best Buy & Target).
