Every mid-year we take a poll to see what our readers consider to be the best Blu-ray Disc release so far. Poll-takers selected from a list of 16 titles that were determined by number of sales and reader interest on our website. Only titles released between January 1st and June 15th, 2015 were considered.
This time it’s not much of a surprise The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies was the voted the best Blu-ray Disc so far, with 28-percent of the votes. It’s also interesting to note this was the theatrical version of the film, not the much anticipated Extended Edition that will probably hit shelves on November 3rd.
Coming in second with 19-percent of the votes was American Sniper (and you still have to wonder how Birdman beat the film for Best Motion Picture of the Year), followed by Intersteller with 18-percent of the votes. (Warner Bros., by the way, had their hand in all three of the top titles.)
Walt Disney’s Big Hero 6 ranked fourth with 13-percent of the votes, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 trailed with 5-percent of the votes. The remaining titles received 4-percent or less.
