Xbox unveiled a handful of new apps today to push more entertainment content to console owners, once again attempting to prove the Xbox 360 is the only device you need to go along with your display. Among the app rollouts are Blip.TV, IGN, LOVEFiLM, Rhapsody, RTL XL and TOU.TV. Rhapsody (launching in the US), provides millions of songs with which you can create playlists until your heart’s content. Blip.TV (also launching in the US), offers original web series such as dramas, comedies, and other genres. The other apps listed below (via Major Nelson’s blog), are launching outside the US.
Once and a while the console companies make a push to remind us the boxes can do more than just play games. When really, TVs these days are pretty much doing whatever we need via apps such as Netflix, Pandora, Facebook, etc. Still though, if your TV isn’t connected the console apps offer a great way to enjoy content other than what your TV service provides.

Rhapsody (Launching in the United States)

Queue up reviews, news, previews, and walkthroughs for your favorite games and have them available right at your fingertips. LOVEFiLM UK (Updating in United Kingdom)
Watch thousands of LOVEFILM movies, streamed instantly to your Xbox.
