Toshiba is now shipping its new Excite 10 SE tablet powered by Android 4.1, Jelly Bean. The tablet features a 10.1″ (diagonal) AutoBrite HD touchscreen, weighs about 22.6 ounces, and is housed in a textured Fusion Lattice finish (see pic below). For photos and video, the tablet utilizes both front and rear cameras, with the 3 megapixel rear camera capable of auto-focus, digital zoom, and HD resolution (both video and stills.) For audio, the 10 SE’s stereo speakers and mic utilize SRS Premium Voice Pro, which optimizes voice for video chatting using the tablet’s front camera. On the inside, the Excite 10 SE houses a NVIDIA Tegra 3 Super 4-PLUS-1 quad-core processor — plenty enough juice to handle HD video and gaming demands. How does the Excite 10 SE compare to other tablets? The MSRP is $349.99 (16GB), making it slightly less pricey than the 10.1″ Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 ($449), and 9.7″ Apple iPad 2 ($399), but slightly more than the 8.9″ Kindle Fire ($299). The Excite 10 SE will hit select retail stores on Thursday, Dec. 6, as well as Toshiba’s online store at ToshibaDirect.com.
