Windows 8 brings new Netflix app

With the release of the Windows 8 operating system comes a brand new dedicated application for Netflix. Makes sense. So what’s new? For starters, you can access the Netflix app on your “Start” screen without having to schlep to netflix.com (many new Windows 8 devices will come with Netflix pre-installed). On the pinch and zoom front, Netflix has enabled a feature they call “Semantic Zoom” on the “Home” area of the app which lets you see an overview of your top recommendations. “Snap View” allows you to multitask, letting you watch a movie while checking out Facebook, for example. Netflix execs say by bypassing browser plug-ins, they were able to make the video player more efficient, promising smoother playback and less strain on your CPU. See a video walkthrough of the new app here.
