NASA public TV channel to transmit in HD

NASA logoWant your NASA in HD? Starting on Feb. 17, 2012, NASA Television’s public and media channels will begin transmitting content in high-definition. NASA was already broadcasting in HD on NASA TV Channel 105, but that channel will end service in favor of the more distributed NASA Television Public Channel (101). NASA TV’s Media Channel (103) will also switch to high-definition, providing media with mission, news and conference coverage. NASA TV’s Education Channel (102), for the meantime, will continue only in standard definition. NASA’s standard HD video format is MPEG-2 with AC-3 audio.
