Electronic Arts has committed the Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand digital expansion pack to release on December 6 for PlayStation 3, and December 13 for Xbox and PC users. If you remember, the PlayStation 3 “Limited Edition” of Battlefield 3 promised a free copy of the ‘Karkand’ pack one week before Xbox and PC users are able to get it.
The expansion pack from EA remasters four popular Battlefield multiplayer maps that include Strike at Karkand, Wake Island, Gulf of Oman and Sharqi Peninsula. Three new vehicles, ten new weapons, five new dog tags, five new achievements/trophies and an added layer of persistence are all included in the expansion pack. The pack also brings back the Conquest Assault mode from Battlefield 2.
The expansion pack will be available on the PlayStation Network for $14.99 (unless you purchased the “Limited Edition” in which case the provided code gets you a free copy). 360 owners will be available to purchase the pack on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, and PC owners can download it from Origin.com — both selling ‘Karkand’ for $14.99.
The ‘Back to Karkand’ downloadable pack will be the first expansion for the Battlefield 3 game. Patrick Soderlund, Executive VP of the EA Games Label says, “The launch of Battlefield 3 was only the beginning as we vow to keep the game alive with additional content and gameplay improvements in the months ahead.”
