‘Red Dead Redemption’ gets GDCA game of the year

Rockstar San Diego’s “Red Dead Redemption” won four awards at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco last night, taking home the prized “Game of the Year” award. ‘Red Dead’ also won Best Game Design, Best Audio, and Best Technology.

The 3D sandbox title “Minecraft” from Swedish developer Mojang also took home a few awards including The Innovation Award, Best Debut Game, and Best Downloadable Game.

BioWare’s “Mass Effect 2” also won an award for Best Writing, and indie developer Playdead got the Best Visual Arts Award for Xbox Live Arcade game “Limbo.”

“There was no shortage of groundbreaking titles across platforms and genres this year,” said Meggan Scavio, Event Director of the Game Developers Conference.

    yeah red dead is a great game. but black ops seems overrated – just like last year’s COD. so much hype but really that great? look forward to Batman Arkham City and The Guardian (if it ever gets released).
