AT&T launches U-verse in Charleston, SC

AT&T has launched its U-verse TV service, along with internet and voice services in parts of Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester. Specific cities included in the expansion include Charleston, North Charleston, Summerville, Mount Pleasant, Goose Creek, Kiawah and Hanahan. AT&T delivers television over its IPTV network offering over 130 high-definition (HD) channels and My Multiview app, allowing viewing of up to 4 channels at once.

“Competition on the field, in politics, and in business is healthy. And competition in business is good for consumers,” said Rep. Bobby Harrell, Speaker of the S.C. House of Representatives.

AT&T recently announced it will provide up to four HD streams per household by improving MPEG-4 compression and DSL upgrades.
