Where the Wild Things Are headed for Blu-ray/DVD this week

where-the-wild-things-are-blu-ray-330x186Where the Wild Things Are will release on Blu-ray Disc and DVD this coming Tuesday, March 2. The movie adaptation of the classic Maurice Sendak children’s book is directed by Spike Jonze, known for his music video direction and the Jackass series. The BD aspect ratio is 2.40:1 with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, and extras run about an hour and fifteen minutes. Amazon is now selling the Blu-ray Disc for $23.49 (List $35.99).

Extras on the Blu-ray Disc (all in HD) include the following:

  • Short: Higglety Pigglety Pop! Or There Must Be More to Life: New live-action/animated adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s book featuring the voices of Meryl Streep and Forest Whitaker
  • HBO First Look
  • Several additional shorts by Lance Bangs: Maurice and Spike, Max and Spike, The Records Family, Carter Burwell, The Absurd Difficulty of Filming a Dog Running and Barking at the Same Time, Crew Pranks Spike, Vampire Attack: The Max Records Short, and The Kids Take Over the Picture
