Netflix rewards customers who wait

netflixNetflix has changed its shipping process for DVDs and hi-def Blu-ray discs to benefit the customer. According to the company’s blog post yesterday, if your first choice is not available the company will send your second choice so you have something to watch while you wait for the first.

To clarify to process, if your first choice is not available from the Netflix shipping center nearest you (there are 55 shipping centers in the U.S.), your second choice will be sent complimentary while you wait for the first to be shipped from farther away. The second choice will not count towards whatever rental plan you have.

According to Netflix, “we’re taking this extra step to ensure you have another movie to enjoy as a complimentary extra DVD rental if your first choice will be delayed.” Finally, company policies on the side of the consumer. Nadar would be proud.

  1. I don’t think Netflix is doing this to be nice guys though – I think they
have to as competition from download and streaming services will be tougher in 2009. They don’t want people to get pissed and get their movies off cable VOD or Apple TV, etc.

Should be an interesting year, Netflix really needs to step up it’s
streaming service because the selection sucks major ass – none of the HD titles are anything worth viewing!

  2. It’s very cool of them to do that! Personally, I’ve never had any problem with their former method, but I can’t speak for everybody. Regardless, it’s a good gesture! I’ve been with them for 3 years now, and have never been disappointed. They know how to keep their customers happy.
