AT&T is now offering its U-verse TV service with 85 HD channels in Columbia, South Carolina. The U-verse service is IPTV (Internet Protoctol) based, using a combination of fiber-optic and copper based networks to deliver programming.
Customers will be notified as the TV and Internet service becomes available to them, that according to the company. Service features include up to 350 all-digital channels, the Total Home DVR which allows watching up to to 4 different recorded shows at the same time (up to 3 of them in HD), and remote recording using AT&T Yahoo! Web Remote Access.
“Cable has been the only game in town for too long,” said Bob Sellman, general manager, Home Solutions, for AT&T Southeast in the Carolinas. He added, “We know Columbia customers want a better choice to break free from cable, and AT&T U-verse TV is the answer.”
