DirecTV added local HD channels in the Dayton Ohio area today, bringing the satellite company’s local HD coverage to 103 U.S. cities. The networks now available in HD are local affiliates WHIO/CBS, WDTN/NBC, WKEF/ABC and WRGT/FOX.
DirecTV plans on providing local HD channel broadcasts to more than 121 cities in the United States by the end of 2008. The number will represent approximately 88-percent of TV owning households.
DirecTV also recently announced coverage of the 2008 Presidential Election with its Election Mix Channel in both standard definition and HD. The channel will offer 8 split feeds on one channel. Read the story here.
