Comcast has added 9 new HD channels to its lineup in Southern New Jersey, TVPredictions reports. The high-definition channels will be available specifically in the Gloucester County area. The 9 new HD channels are MC HD, Animal Planet HD, CNN HD, Discovery HD, Food Network HD, History Channel HD, HGTV HD, Sci Fi HD and USA HD.
Comcast recently launched 9 new HD (High-Definition) channels in New Hampshire and Massachusetts including Disney HD, ABC Family HD, TLC HD, AMC HD, Science Channel HD, The Movie Channel HD and Showtime 2 HD.
As far as Comcast HD VOD offerings, the cable television provider says it currently offers more than 500 HD choices, and will be expanding to 1,000 high-definition choices by the end of 2008.
Comcast is currently the second largest cable television service provider in the United States. In 2007, it had revenue of $30 billion, operating income of $5.5 billion, and a net income of $2.5 billion. (1)
This just in, Comcast will purchase Daily Candy, an email newsletter with 2.5 subscribers, for a reported amount of $125 million. The newsletter is geared towards affluent women in urban areas.
