Vizio now distributes 3 new HDTV models, all under their recently announced XVT brand. Two of the new models are LCD, and one plasma. The LCD models are the SV420XVT (42″) and SV47XVT (47″) LCD HDTVs, both at 1080p. The Vizio VP505XVT (50″) Plasma HDTV is also 1080p with a 30,000:1 contrast ratio.
The LCD models have 120Hz refresh rates, which is twice the speed of many LCD panels measured at 60Hz. The HDTVs also incorporate “Smooth Motion Video Processing,” 5 ms response rate and 5.1 virtual Surround Sound. Both the SV420XVT and SV47XVT are upgradeable to Wireless 5.1. They are priced at $1499.99 (42″) and $1899.99 (47″).
The Vizio VP505XVT 50″ plasma includes Silicon Optix REON HQV processing which is supposed to bring out more details in both SD and HD sources as well as render more natural colors. Audio features 5.1 virtual surround sound with SRS TruSurround XT.
Like the LCDs, the 50″ plasma can be upgraded with the VIZIO SV5.1 Kit that adds 5.1 surround sound with the inclusion of rear channel speakers and a wireless subwoofer. The Vizio VP505XVT is box priced at $1699.99.
