Comcast/Florida adds 6 HD channels

comcast logoComcast/South Florida announced in a press release yesterday that they will add 6 new high definition (HD) channels and VOD choices to their lineup. The new channels will include Food Network HD (Channel 414), USA Network HD (Channel 420), History Channel HD (Channel 422), Discovery Channel HD (Channel 424), Animal Planet HD (Channel 426), and Sci-Fi Network HD (Channel 427).

“We are undergoing a major upgrade to Comcast’s South Florida cable system’s infrastructure,” said Filemon Lopez, Regional Senior Vice President for South Florida. He added, “We are committed to giving our South Florida customers the latest technology available, and for that to happen we have to make constant improvements to our cable network.”

Comcast currently has 24.1 million cable customers, 13.2 million high-speed Internet customers, and 4.6 million voice customers nationwide.
