This week AMC’s The Walking Dead: The Complete Fourth Season is available on Blu-ray Disc in a 5-Disc set from Anchor Bay, as well as a 5-Disc DVD set. But along with the common Blu-ray and DVD editions, several retailers are offering exclusive limited editions of the Blu-ray release, including Best Buy and Walmart. Below, we break them down for you to help you decide which version to buy.
The Walking Dead: The Complete Fourth Season 5-Disc Blu-ray Set
The common Blu-ray edition of The Walking Dead: The Complete Fourth Season comes with five Blu-ray Discs formatted in 1080p with Dolby Digital TrueHD 7.1 channel surround sound, Digital HD copies via UltraViolet, and optional audio commentaries. There’s also one Blu-ray Disc (formatted in 1080i) with deleted scenes and several featurette collections such as “The Making of The Walking Dead” and “Inside The Walking Dead.” The edition retails for $79.99 but is currently available for $29.99 from Amazon. The DVD edition (list priced at $69.99) is available for $24.99.
The Walking Dead: Season 4 Limited Edition with Tree Walker Case
This limited edition of The Walking Dead: The Complete Fourth Season comes with a “tree walker” case from McFarlane Toys. What makes the case even more intriguing is that the head and arm move when you insert or remove the Blu-ray Discs from the case. The 5-Disc set is the same Blu-ray common edition we told you about above, only with the added bonus of a true collector’s special packaging. The limited edition carries a list price of $129, but Amazon and Walmart are selling it for $79.99, while Target is selling the set for $84.99.
Walmart Exclusive: The Walking Dead: The Complete Fourth Season w/Prison KeyÂ
Walmart has got their own exclusive The Walking Dead: The Complete Fourth Season that features an Alex Ross illustration on the slip cover, with an embedded West Georgia Correctional Facility Prison Key. The “Prison Key” exclusive includes the 5-Disc Blu-ray set mentioned above, along with extra bonus material on the fifth disc and Digital HD copies via UltraViolet. The Exclusive Walmart edition of The Walking Dead: The Complete Fourth Season is list-priced at $89.99, but Walmart is currently selling it for $49.96. The “Prison Key Edition” is also available on DVD (for $39.96).
Best Buy: The Walking Dead: Season 4 w/Lenticular package
Best Buy is doing its usual exclusive packaging, this time with a special Lenticular slip cover featuring Rick Grimes, giving the 5-Disc set a different look than the Blu-ray package seen above. Best Buy’s list price for the Blu-ray edition of The Walking Dead: Season 4 is $54.99, but they have it on sale for $29.99.
Target Exclusive:Â The Walking Dead Season 4 Steelbook Blu-ray
Target has their own exclusive edition of the The Walking Dead: Season 4 on Blu-ray Disc that is only available in-stor. The edition comes in a special Steelbook package with 5 Blu-ray Discs included. The edition is list-priced at $34.99 but is on sale for $29.99. Thanks for the update Josh!
