Is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 currently sold out on Amazon? [Update: Amazon has restocked units. See current pricing below.] When searching for the Blu-ray, 4k Blu-ray, and DVD Amazon says the title is “Currently unavailable.” Could this just be a glitch? Or could Amazon have possibly sold out all copies of GOTG V2 one week before its release date on August 22?
We’ll likely find out soon whether or not this is a temporary issue. It’s hard to believe Amazon could have run out of copies especially given there are many exclusive retailer editions available to pre-order, and, the movie has already been available to buy in digital format (which has an infinite amount of stock!) since last Tuesday.
For now though, if you’re concerned about getting a copy of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 you might want to jump over to Best Buy where they have all versions available. Or, take a look at Target, Walmart and other online retailers to secure your copy.

I don’t think I’ll rely on amazon.com for Disney movies on DVD or blu-ray. Disney is ruining Marvel. I want to have a talk with them.
It’s not a glitch. The same thing happened with Doctor Strange and it’s intentional. Apparently there is some sort of dispute between Amazon and Disney so you won’t see GotG2 until the day of release and it’ll probably sell out instantly. When Doctor Strange released, Amazon had copies for about 30 minutes before selling out for a couple weeks.
They’ve had issues with certain publishers before. I had to order Dr. Strange and others from Best Buy since Amazon didn’t stock it for even several weeks after release.
It’s been “currently available” for several weeks and it’s extremely frustrating.
