It’s a big week for movie and TV show releases on Blu-ray Disc this week. We’ve compiled several highlights as our top picks as well as an extended list below. At the top of our picks is Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War starring Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans that hits stores on Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray on Tuesday, Sept. 13. Both editions include plenty of extras and a Digital HD copy.
For TV shows our pick of the week is The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Ninth Season with all 24 episodes of the Golden Globe-winning series from CBS. The two-disc edition also includes bonus extras such as a gag reel, Comic-con 2015 panel, and Digital HD copies via UltraViolet.
Our top collection pick of the week, that makes a great gift for the holidays, is Criterion Collection’s Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman with twenty-five Zatoichi films made between 1962 and 1973. This is the first time the iconic Japanese films have been collected in one package, and Criterion has spared no expense with digital restorations, extras including the documentary “The Blind Swordsman,” book insert, and more.
