The Amazon Video app for Apple iOS devices including iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch has been updated with several enhancements, features, and bug fixes, as well as support for the recently announced partnership with Showtime, Starz, and other subscription-based content providers.
In case you missed the announcement last week, over-the-top services such as SHOWTIME, STARZ, and AMC can now be purchased and authenticated by Prime members. Once subscribed, members can access those video services on Amazon.com or through Amazon’s apps for iOS devices. (We would expect Android support to be in the works.)
The new Amazon Video app also adds a setting for Auto Play so next episodes in TV seasons will play automatically in sequence. And, the app now includes X-Ray to easily find relevant information about titles such as actors, songs, and trivia, provided by IMDB.
Lastly, Picture-in-Picture and Slide Over are now supported on some Apple iOS devices; 3D touch is available for iPhone 6s and 6s Plus; and, the app has added support for Apple’s newest iPad Pro.
The latest Amazon Video app Version 3.3.1 for iOS devices is a 31.1MB file that requires iOS 7.0 or later.
