Vudu drops price of over 100 HDX titles to $9.99

Looking to get digital copies of all those movie discs collecting dust on your shelf? Vudu has dropped the price of over 100 titles in HDX quality to $9.99 each. Previously priced $14.99 or higher, blockbuster and classic movies such as Cast Away, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Hoffa, Son of God, The Hustler, and The X-Files: Fight the Future are now all under $10.

Vudu’s HDX digital format is their finest “HD” quality with video formatted in 1080p at 24fps (Frames-Per-Second). And, audio is provided in a 40% higher bit-rate than standard surround sound DVD’s, with Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 for most newer movies. Although the HDX format takes longer to download than HD (720p) or SD (480p), viewing HDX on big screen TVs is certainly worth the wait.

Many of the titles on Vudu also include Bonus Features, so you can get more than just the film with the digital purchase. In addition, Vudu purchases are added to your UltraViolet library, which is supported by many video platforms. UV purchases have been redeemable with Vudu since 2012.

Vudu recently launched the Vudu Spark HDMI/USB stick that allows customers to purchase or rent movies on Vudu. Walmart is currently selling the Vudu Spark for $24.96, with incentives that essentially make the streaming stick free after receiving $5 movie credits.
