Transformers: Age of Extinction will be released to disc formats exactly a week from now. But why wait? The film is already available in digital format to stream or download from online services such as Amazon Instant Video, iTunes, and Vudu — no disc needed. Unless, of course, you’re planning on picking up one the exclusive limited editions of Transformers: Age of Extinction. Or, if you’re looking forward to the additional three hours of content that’ll be included in the common Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D editions.
When we scanned all the available places to purchase Transformers: Age of Extinction in digital format, we found the average price is $19.99 for the Digital HD version. The cheapest place to buy the movie is Target Ticket where the high-def format is priced at $18.99. And, the most expensive place is Best Buy’s Cinema Now. Best Buy always seems to have an odd and inconsistent configuration of pricing. While the Digital HD format is priced the highest from any vendor at $24, the SD version is $17.99. So much for rounding off numbers.
For those of you building up your UltraViolet-based digital movie collection, UV-supporting digital services include Target, Walmart’s Vudu, and Best Buy’s Cinema Now. Once you link your accounts from Cinema Now, Target and Vudu, your library will contain all titles purchased within the UltraViolet database.
