DIRECTV subscribers in the Yakima Valley area have been subjected to a blackout of FOX stations, due to a carriage dispute between DIRECTV and local FOX-owned affiliate Northwest Broadcasting. That means shows like X-Factor and Glee, as well as the NFL and PAC 12 college football are currently unavailable to watch. DIRECTV says they have provided another FOX affiliate on channel 399 for customers who cannot receive FOX for free over-the-air.
This is the second time the FOX channels have been pulled, as the dispute over retransmission fees has been going on for 2 years. While DIRECTV says Northwest is asking for a 300% increase, Northwest says they can’t afford to provide the FOX programming under the current agreeement.
Northwest serves customers in Yakima, Tri-Cities, Spokane, Medford, Ore. and Binghamton, N.Y. areas.
