Affordable 4k HDTV coming in 2013

Westinghouse will ship an affordable 4k HDTV in the first quarter of 2013, that according to a CNET article. The 55-inch 3840 x 2160 HDTV measures four-times the resolution of current 1080p HDTVs on the market, and will be the company’s first consumer 4k model. Westinghouse wasn’t able to provide an MSRP for the model but did say it would be “affordable.” Given the fact that television mainly broadcasts in only 720p or 1080i, with occasional 1080p content through certain providers, the 4k resolution may be overkill at this point. But, it’s great to see WH pushing the envelope.
