Classic monster films remastered for Blu-ray

Universal Studios has announced eight classic monster films have been digitally restored and remastered for release on high-definition Blu-ray Disc. Titled “Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential Collection,” the compilation of restored films are part of Universal’s 100th Anniversary celebration this year. The classic monster films include Dracula (1931), Frankenstein (1931), The Mummy (1932), The Invisible Man (1933), Bride of Frankenstein (1935), The Wolf Man (1941), Phantom of the Opera (1943), and Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) which also comes with a newly restored 3D version of the film. The disc-set comes with plenty of extras including a 48-page collectible book, behind-the-scenes documentaries, commentaries & interviews, storyboards, photo galleries, and film trailers. ‘Universal Classic Monsters’ will hit shelves on October 2, 2012, just in time for Halloween.
