AT&T suddenly dropped carriage of sports network EPSN 3D. But in the middle of the X-Games? That's a killer. The fiber-optic TV/Internet/Phone provider cited too high a price tag for the 3D channel.
Good news for those of you who thought the Nintendo 3DS was priced too high. Nintendo has announced a price drop for the portable gaming system. Starting August 12, the MSRP in the United States will be $169.99 - almost $100 less than the original launch price of $249. Upcoming games for the 3DS this fall include Star Fox 64 3D, Super Mario 3D and Mario Kart 7.
ony Computer Entertainment has announced launch dates for the Resistance 3 Public Beta. Those who received access codes through SOCOM 4 will be able to redeem them at the PlayStation Store on August 4th, 2011. Exactly what time, Sony didn't say. They simply said "at some point" on that day. Other PlayStation Plus subscribers will have to wait a couple weeks until August 23rd.
This fall, Charter Communications will expand BTN games to more markets outside the Big Ten Conference states, as well as provide access to BTN2Go.com for subscribers to company's SportsView tier. T
Universal Studios has announced a street date for "Fast Five" starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and Dwayne Johnson. The Blu-ray Disc and DVD will hit shelves on October 4, 2011, as well as the options to view On Demand or purchase a digital version. The title will be released in several different disc formats which include a never-before-seen extended edition on the Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack with Digital Download.
Today Walmart announced "full integration" of its VUDU movie service, offering customers thousands of titles for purchase or rental. The titles can be streamed from VUDU.com, Walmart.com, or through VUDU-supported devices such as Blu-ray players and certain HDTVs. Walmart says VUDU is now supported on over 300 devices.
It's no easy pickins' this week with a lack of Blockbuster films or must-have classics in the lineup. Although you might consider a few of the titles "great films," whether or not their "greatness" warrants a purchase is up in the air. For the most part, we rank all the titles this week as Blu-ray rentals rather than purchases with the exception of "Stargate Atlantis: Complete Series Gift Set."
