Sony will start shipping a new 3D projector for home use next month which produces images almost three times as bright as their current 3D projector. The projector boasts strong 1,300 lumens output with a dynamic contrast range of 70,000:1. And with a 240Hz frame rate, the Sony VPL-HW30ES was designed for movies, sports and gaming, supporting both 2D and 3D signals. The HW30ES features Sony’s SXRD (Silicon X-tal Reflective Display) technology, and supports HDMI1.4a, Deep Color, x.v.Color, and 24p True Cinema. The ES-series projector comes with an MSRP of $3699.99, but unfortunately the price doesn’t include Sony’s new 3D glasses (TDG-PJ1 $129 ea.) or 3D transmitter (TMR-PJ1 $79) — taking the HW30 closer to $4k for 3D capability.
