The next issue of GamePro reveals Killzone 3 will be playable in 3D, this reported by a magazine subscriber who received the issue and posted details on GameSpot. The next issue will hit shelves on June 1 and contains Killzone 3 spreads (looking really good) and details of the next release (expected in 2011). Of course, you’ll need a 3D HDTV and 3D glasses to get the full three-dimensional effect. And, sitting centered on the TV is recommended for maximum 3D perspective. According to the GameSpot post citing GamePro the effects are “crazy.” The GamePro article also says Killzone 3 has added the use of jetpacks (which double as weapons), arctic levels, and a mission to rescue ISA Captain Narville. No specifics were given on exactly what the 3D format will be – but most likely the TV will need to support HDMI 1.4 — a requirement of the PS3 3D standard. Firmware upgrades for the PS3 gaming platform will be released in June, with support for 3D movies on Blu-ray Disc following this year. Sony’s new line of 3D LED TVs — the LX900, HX900 and HX800 series are also expected out this year.
