Trailer for Resident Evil: Afterlife teases Cameron’s 3D system

[HTML1]

Sony Pictures has released a trailer for the first Resident Evil film to be presented in 3D, using the James Cameron/Vince Pace Fusion Camera system that captured Avatar. This is the fourth film in the franchise, with Milla Jovovich returning as Alice and Ali Carter her monster fighting sidekick. Check out the Matrix style falling-backwards-out-of-the-window clip towards the end of the trailer, and various slow-mo action effects also reminiscent of the Wachowski series. Will this film be original enough to surpass those obvious references as well as the potentially potent 3D element? Resident Evil: Afterlife will be hitting theaters (in 3D and 2D) on September 10, 2010.
