With no real announcement Microsoft has dropped the price of its Zune HD 16GB and 32GB models by $20. The Microsoft online store, as well as Best Buy, have the media players priced at $199 and $269 respectively. Amazon and Walmart have dropped the 32GB model by $40, offering it at $249 (Reg. $289). The 16GB model is currently $188 (Reg. $219).
The Zune HD is an iPod competitor which offers wireless synching to your PC. The player (much smaller than an iPhone and earlier Zune models) boasts a brilliant 3.3-inch OLED touchscreen display. Video resolution is 480 x 272 resolution at 16:9. Other notable features include built-in HD Radio and export to HDTV at 720p via external dock (sold separately.)
Will the price reductions stick? More than likely considering if there was demand the prices wouldn’t have dropped in the first place.
