Comcast launches more HD channels in select areas

Comcast added new HD channels to its line-up in northern Delaware, New Jersey and the Greater Philadelphia area. The new channels available in high-definition include Speed HD, FX HD and Fox News Channel HD.

On June 12, Comcast says it will launch ION Television HD and WFMZ-TV HD in select New Jersey areas including Union, Meadowlands and Plainfield, Burlington, Gloucester, Garden State, Maple Shade, and Central New Jersey.

A Comcast representative said, “Through our ‘World of More’ digital service upgrade, we’ll continue to bring customers additional HD choices including more than 100 of the very best HD channels.”

  1. Not so. Just spoke to Comcast. I’m in the greater Philadelphia area and I don not have the above mentioned channels. The comcast rep told me they have no plans to add Speed HD, FX HD or Fox News HD at present.

  2. From a Comcast rep – this may help clarify:

On or around June 12, ION Television WPXN-HD (channel 272) will launch in Comcast of Union, Meadowlands and Plainfield.

Comcast of Burlington, Gloucester, Garden State and Maple Shade & Comcast of Central New Jersey are getting both ION (channel 272) and WFMZ-TV HD (channel 271).

  3. Those channels are not on in our part of NJ, the “Garden State” system. Perhaps we’ll get Ion on the 12th, but why another channel that specializes in repeats is beyond me. Will we ever get Sci-Fi HD, which has some original programming?
