FiOS expands in Florida, 31 HD channels in Tampa Bay

Verizon expanded its FiOS service to close to 800,000 Florida residents in West Central Florida counties. The fiber-optic television provider, which offers 31 HD (high-definition) channels in the Tampa Bay area, will now service Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sarasota.

The FiOS service includes 400 all-digital channels, 31 HD channels in the area, and a library of 10,000 VOD (video-on-demand) titles. Verizon also announced it will provide 1,000 HD VOD titles by the end of the month.

Verizon says it will be offering Tampa Bay residents a bundle package consisting of FiOS TV service, FiOS Internet service and phone service with unlimited calls for $99.99 with a one year commitment.
