Sony to replace PS3 ‘Motorstorm’ bundle

Sony will cease to offer the Playstation 3 80GB bundled with “Motorstorm.” Instead of “Motorstorm,” newer bundle releases will include “Metal Gear Solid 4” and a DualShock 3 controller. According to an article by Joystiq, Sony stated that retailers would not longer receive any new inventory of the 80GB Motorstorm bundle.

There will be two PS3 bundle packages available. A limited-edition gunmetal grey 40GB PS3 will retail for $600 and include “Metal Gear Solid 4” and a DualShock 3.  But reports indicate the limited-edition will NOT be compatible with Playstation 2 games.

A standard-edition black PS3, however, will come MGS4, a bigger 80GB hard-drive, and will be able to play older PS2 games. At  $500 for the standard-edition, you tell me what the better deal is.

The scheduled release for the new PS3 bundles is June 12, 2008.

Only an idiot would spent an additional $100 on a less powerful system just because it comes in the color gray.

Are there really people out there in the world that would do this?

I could MAYBE see somebody spending $100 for the different color…but for a crappier system? Please. Somebody needs their head examined.

Wow. Super old news and the Gun Metal is only available @ Konami website I just preordered mine. The Gun Metal is for ultimate MGS fanboys like me that have held off buying the ps3 till now. I repeat the Gun Metal is only for mgs fans there are only 9,999 in production thus the added price tag. By all means the 80gb bundle is the more “economic” approach, but then again who spends 500 on a video game system and economizes?
