Best Buy to reward HD DVD customers

best buyBest Buy will be rewarding customers who purchased HD DVD players any time before February 23, 2008 with a $50 gift card. In addition, regardless of where you purchased your HD DVD player, you can trade in your HD DVD player and movies in exchange for store credit.

The announcement comes as many HD DVD owners have questioned their jump into high definition, as Blu-ray now stands as the only high definition disc format in the U.S. (There is also high definition format called VMD).

The $50 gift certificates will be mailed before May 1, 2008. The total expected amount of the awards from Best Buy are supposed to exceed $10 million. Customers who do not have their addresses on file with Best Buy through purchasing in the store or through the website can bring in their original receipt.

The Best Buy trade-in program allows anyone to go bestbuytradein.com and get an instant estimate of the value of their HD DVD players and movies. In exchange for the trade-in(s) they will receive a gift card for the value of the estimate.
