DirectTV Takes Long View on Ultra-HDTV

DirectTV, Inc. indicated that the satellite pay-TV company will be increasing its efforts to offer Ultra-HDTV transmissions by 2016, and begin switching off any remaining vestiges of the old Standard-Def spectrum in favor of full HD channels.

Dish Network has added the Game Show Network (GSN HD) to its channel lineup, that according to TVPredictions and the GSN Forum. The channel dedicates its programming to game shows and casino action. GSN is owned by both DirecTV and Sony Pictures Television. Sister channels include 3net, FEARnet HD, The 101 Network, and Sony Movie Channel.

DirecTV to premiere IN THE QUBE on 3net

Would you pay $30 for Adam Sandler in "Just Go With It" or Matt Damon in "The Adjustment Bureau?" That's what Variety reports DirecTV will ask subscribers to pay this coming Easter holiday for movies that are 30 days away from Blu-ray Disc, DVD, and digital viewing.

DirecTV will expand local HD channels this summer
