FiOS TV apps coming soon to Samsung products

Today Samsung officially announced that Verizon FiOS TV apps would soon be available for Samsung Smart TVs and Smart Blu-ray players. Through the app, releasing this year, FiOS TV subscribers will be able to access 26 live TV channels including HD channels.

New Xbox 360 apps expand global reach

Today Microsoft announced a bunch of new entertainment related apps for the Xbox 360. The apps come a week after the release of the new Xbox Live update which brought enhanced Kinect controls, cloud storage, and streaming TV content. Among the new apps available for download are iHeartRadio, MSNBC.com, TMZ, and access to 26 live channels from Verizon FiOS TV.

Xbox 360 to host FiOS TV channels via Kinect

Starting this month Verizon FiOS TV subscribers with an Xbox Live Gold account will be able to download a free app to access live television. The app (developed by Verizon) will give subscribers 26 channels to choose from via Kinect interface, without any need to use a remote control.

DIRECTV launches update to iPad app

DIRECTV recently launched an update to their free iPad app which will allow you to watch live TV from anywhere in your home or office where a DIRECTV HD DVR is connected to a network with internet access. The iPad app also allows you to record, search and control content from your lineup including setting parental controls. The update (Version 1.3.5) also fixes an audio issue which streams sound when the mute button is pressed. You can download the free iPad app from the App Store on Apple's iTunes.

Search smarter with PS3 ‘Video Unlimited Preview’ app

Finding a movie or TV show on your PlayStation 3 will now be a slicker and more intuitive process with today’s release of the “Video Unlimited – preview” application. Available for download right now for PlayStation Plus users, and all users within a few weeks, the interface lets you browse through the PlayStation Store’s video content by genre, actor, setting, studio, and more. You can find and download the app in the Media section of the PlayStation Store.
