The United States national women’s soccer team already secured a spot to advance to the next round of the 2019 FIFA World Cup, but their match against Sweden is a chance for the US to make up for their loss to the Swedes in the Rio Olympics.
However, a win for the US team could put them in a potential tournament-ending quarterfinal with France next week. Likely though, they will play Spain on Monday. But the team has said they have no intentions of taking a loss.
The Group F Matchday 3 of 3 will take place from Stade Océane in Le Havre, France at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time/11:00 a.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, June 20.
Who is expected to win Thursday’s matchup? Both teams are 2/2 but with Sweden allowing one goal, USA is the top seed in the bracket. USA also scored 9 more goals than Sweden (16-7) for a goal difference of 16-6.
USA’s “Win Probability” is currently 73% to Sweden’s 9% with an 18% chance of a Draw.
In the US, Fox (English), FS1 (English), Telemundo (Spanish), and NBC Universo (Spanish) are broadcasting the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup through July 7.
