There are about two dozen new Ultra HD Blu-ray titles coming our way in June, not including exclusive retailer editions from Best Buy and Target. That number could go up with some last minute additions towards the end of the month, so you might check our 4k Blu-ray News category for the latest announcements. For now, let’s take a look at some UHD BD highlights followed by a full list of scheduled releases below.
The first week of June will bring all three existing Toy Story films to 4k Blu-ray and 4k SteelBook editions (available in the US at Best Buy). Upgraded to 4k with HDR10 and a Dolby Atmos soundtrack, the discs anticipate the premiere of Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 4 premiering in theaters on June 21st. Also on June 4th, The four Batman films spanning 1989 to 1997 have been newly remastered for Ultra HD Blu-ray with Dolby Atmos. Other 4k titles releasing that day include The Natural, The Matrix Trilogy 4k SteelBook, and Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
On June 11, Marvel Studio’s Captain Marvel hits stores for the first time on Blu-ray, 4k Blu-ray and DVD. The movie was just released to digital, but if you’re a diehard collector there will be exclusive editions of Captain Marvel available at Best Buy and Target. Also on that day, let’s not forget 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, Ghostbusters/Ghostbusters II – 35th Anniversary SteelBook, Fast Five (2011), Fast & Furious (2009), and the Fast & Furious 8-Movie Collection all release to new 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray editions.
Later in the month look forward to 4k Blu-ray releases of Jordan Peele’s Us, The Scorpion King (2002), Cinderella (2015), and Dumbo (2019).
