Star Wars fans suddenly went from divided to united, following Dave Filoni’s surprise reveal of The Clone Wars return during its 10-year anniversary panel at SDCC. Canceled in 2013 during the transition of Disney’s purchase of everything Star Wars, many assumed the extremely popular animated series would never have a proper ending.
Expected to premiere with the launch of Disney+ (late 2019), previous episodes can still be found on Netflix. Out of 121 The Clone Wars episodes, and the unreleased sixth season, there’s only so much time left to watch the best and skip the worst before its return.
3 Best And Worst Star Wars: The Clone Wars Episodes
Many of The Clone Wars episodes are exceptional, but only three can claim the title of GOAT. Meanwhile, there’s always a few bad apples in every batch.
Best: The Wrong Jedi S5, Ep 20
Ahsoka Tano went from most hated character to adored by the end of The Clone Wars run. “The Wrong Jedi” provides intense suspense and will leave you in tears by its final moments.
Worst: A Sunny Day in the Void S5, Ep 11
The Jedi council sends R2D2 and other droids on a secret mission into Separatist territory under the leadership of Colonel Meebur Gascon (smallest frog in Star Wars). “A Sunny Day in the Void” is the events following the mission. It’s boring, lacks the humor normally associated with droids, and contains the worst dialog in The Clone Wars series.
Best: The Lawless S5, Ep 16
Resolving the Mandalorian and Darth Maul arcs, “The Lawless” is action-packed to the brim. Ever wonder how strong Darth Sidious really is? Just watch him take on Darth Maul and Savage Opress in an epic lightsaber duel.
Worst: Senate Spy S2, Ep 4
Rush Clovis, a Republic senator, grabs the attention of the Jedi Council for aligning himself with Separatist leader Count Dooku. Political episodes tend to be on the boring side, however, including romantic feelings between Padme and Clovis (while she’s secretly married to Anakin Skywalker) was just wrong on so many levels.
Best: Sacrifice S6, Ep13
Get your Yoda fix on as the beloved Jedi Master travels to Moraband, an ancient and now deserted Sith planet. “Sacrifice” is part of the Lost Missions arc in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and features Darth Sidious performing Sith Alchemy, along with the confrontational spirit of Darth Bane attempting to recruit Yoda.
Worst: Evil Plans S3, Ep 8
“Evil Plans” is the blueprint of what not to do with a filler episode. Desperate for content, The Clone Wars writers send C3PO and R2D2 shopping for Jogan fruit on Coruscant. Meanwhile, Cad Bane comes along and tries to access Republic data. Nothing in this episode makes sense and it’s a total snooze.
Yes, I’m a little biased, but agree with Sacrifice S6, Ep13…
