Amazon has premiered their new Fire TV Cube streaming media player that includes all the features of the latest generation Fire TV but adds a speaker, eight microphones, and beamforming technology for improved far-field voice recognition.
Like the Fire TV, the Fire TV Cube supports 4k Ultra HD content with playback up to 60 frames-per-second, HDR support (with HDR10), and immersive Dolby Atmos audio.
Specifications of the “Cube” stay the same with a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and 16GB of storage, but adds a built-in Ethernet port (the Fire TV requires an adapter). [Read a comparison of Fire TV Cube to 3rd-Generation Fire TV.]
The Fire TV Cube is scheduled to begin shipping on Thursday, June 21st, but customers can pre-order the device for $89.99 — a discount of $30 off the list price of $119.99.
Amazon customers can also pre-order a Fire TV Cube bundle with Cloud Cam Security Camera for $199.99 (List: $239.99).
