Star Wars: The Last Jedi leads new Blu-ray releases this week

new-blu-ray-mar-27-2018-960x600Not many home media distributers wanted to go up against Star Wars: The Last Jedi this week, so you won’t see any other new blockbusters films. There are, however, quite a Blu-ray releases we wanted to list including several television shows and a few classics.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi releases to Blu-ray Disc on Mar. 27 and will be the first 4k ‘Star Wars’ disc release to date. Will it set off previous Star Wars films to get re-issued to 4k Blu-ray? One would think so. But for now you can watch ‘The Last Jedi’ in 2160p with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on supporting TVs. Although the film was previously released to digital only, many have been waiting the physical disc of this movie (heck, what if your internet goes down?) to add to their Star Wars collections. Best Buy, Target, and Walmart have the film on Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray, but like what has happened with other Disney releases Amazon doesn’t currently have Star Wars: The Last Jedi in stock. We’ll see what happens on Tuesday.

Criterion Collection has remastered Women in Love (1969) and King of Jazz (1930) for release on 1080p Blu-ray, and, both Assault On Precinct 13 (1976) and Prince Of Darkness (1987) are available in new Steel Book Blu-ray editions.

New Blu-ray releases from television this week include Season 3 of USA’s Mr. Robot, Season 1 of ABC’s Legion (anticipating the premiere of Season 2 on April 3), and Season 1 of Outer Limits including the 32 episodes that ran from 1963 through 1964.
