This is the biggest week in February for new movies on 4k Blu-ray, with a total of six new 4k discs and one expanded-release 4k title that we know about. Each of the new Ultra HD Blu-ray titles feature 2160p video resolution with HDR (either HDR10 or Dolby Vision) for expanded color range.
Brand new to disc this week are 7-time Oscar-nominee Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and Disney/Pixar’s 2-time Oscar-nominated animated feature Coco. Also new to disc media is 20th Century Fox’s Murder on the Orient Express.
Previously-released movies now getting 4k Blu-ray editions include Oscar-nominated Straight Outta Compton ‘Unrated Director’s Cut’ (2015) from Universal Pictures. The original Tomb Raider franchise films, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life (2003), have both been upgraded to 4k by Paramount Pictures. Those two Ultra HD releases will also be available from Best Buy in exclusive SteelBook editions.
And, six months after an exclusive Best Buy edition 5-time Oscar-nominated film Zero Dark Thirty (2012) will get a wide release on 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray.
