Lara Croft Tomb Raider films releasing to 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray

lara-croft-tomb-raider-4k-blu-ray-2up-840pxThe Lara Croft ‘Tomb Raider’ films based on the video game from Square Enix are both releasing to 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) directed by Simon West and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003) directed by Jan de Bont have both been digitally remastered to 2160p resolution.

The Tomb Raider films star Angelina Jolie as the beautiful archaeologist/adventurer Lara Croft whose mission is to uncover ancient and powerful artifacts.

On Ultra HD Blu-ray, the video includes specifications for High Dynamic Range color improvements on 4k HDR TVs. Like other Paramount titles, we’re expecting the HDR to be enabled via HDR10, the open source standard that adds up to 10-bits of color depth.

As far as audio, we’ll update this article once we have confirmed formats. The originally-released Blu-ray editions include DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack.

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life are both list-priced at $31.99 and are available to pre-order from Amazon.
