Today, Amazon announced a bunch of new products including five new Echo devices and a new Fire TV player that supports 4k and HDR. The new Fire TV dongle is only 2.6″ square and weighs just 3.1 ounces, making it easy to hang from the HDMI port on your TV.
The new Fire TV utlizes Alexa voice remote, features a 1.5Ghz quad-core processor, supports up to 60 frames-per-second video, and plays Dolby Atmos audio. 60fps, Dolby Atmos, and HDR are new to the Fire TV line of media players, but unfortunately the Amazon device only supports HDR10 (one of two specifications for HDR).
However, the new Fire TV is priced only $69 — that’s over $100 less than the 32GB Apple TV 4k that just started shipping. You can pre-order the new Fire TV dongle with Alexa Remote, scheduled to start shipping on Oct. 25, from the Amazon product list below.
New Echo products also announced today include a redesigned Echo, Echo Plus, Echo Button, Echo Connect, and Echo Spot.
